How to Get RERA Registration for Real Estate Agents in India

The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, better known as RERA, was introduced to create transparency and accountability in the Indian real estate market. A major mandate under this law is that real estate agents must register with their respective state’s RERA authority to operate legally. RERA was established to regulate the real estate sector and safeguard the interests of homebuyers. However, it also sets clear rules for intermediaries like property brokers and real estate consultants. Under RERA, agents are not allowed to promote or assist in property sales for any project that is not RERA-registered—unless they themselves are registered with the authority.
